Cane Run Power Plant Demolition

The Cane Run coal-fired power plant was a landmark of Louisville's industrial history — and when the time came to bring it down, John Flower Productions was called in to document every moment.

This was not a simple shoot. Capturing a controlled demolition requires extensive preparation, precise camera placement, and the kind of technical coordination that leaves no room for error. Our team deployed a multi-camera setup using Canon cinema cameras positioned at multiple angles around the facility, supplemented by drone coverage for aerial perspectives and GoPro and Sony action cameras for closer, embedded shots throughout the structure.

The result is a piece that works on two levels. It documents an extraordinary feat of engineering with the visual rigor the moment deserved, while also serving as a tribute to the plant's history and the generations of workers who kept it running. The final video went on to win a Gold Telly Award.
