DCI World Championships Cinecast | Live Multicamera Video Production Louisville

Drum Corps International is a world of athletic artistry and sonic spectacle — a competitive activity built around the belief that a corps of performers with brass, battery, and movement can do something that stops you cold.

The DCI World Championships are the pinnacle of that pursuit. Every August, the best drum corps in the world descend on Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for three days of competition that culminates in one of the most electric nights in live performance. Finals night. Broadcast to fans who can't be there through theaters and screens across the country.

John Flower Productions has worked on the show since 2001 and has served as the executive producer of all video content for the DCI World Championships since 2024. That means a 12-camera multicamera production inside a 70,000-seat NFL stadium, a live PPV webcast to FloMarching subscribers, and the Big, Loud, Live Cinecast — a 5.1 surround sound theatrical broadcast distributed to approximately 600 movie theaters nationwide. Every corps. Every performance. Live.

For JFP, this is the assignment that defines what we do. There is no margin for error at this level — the production has to be as good as the performances it's capturing.

The Production Challenge

Producing a live theatrical broadcast from inside a 70,000-seat stadium is a different animal than any other production format. The performance happens once. The audio mix has to be right the first time. The camera choreography has to account for corps moving in full formation across a 100-yard field while simultaneously feeding a clean, broadcast-ready signal to hundreds of theaters. JFP has managed this production every year since 2007 — building the institutional knowledge, the crew relationships, and the production infrastructure that a show of this scale demands.
