KCD 2020 Commencement Parade | School Event Video Production Louisville

In the spring of 2020, Kentucky Country Day School faced what every school in the country faced: a campus that had to close, and a senior class that deserved a proper send-off anyway.

KCD's answer was a commencement parade — families driving through campus in decorated cars, students hanging out windows with signs and balloons, teachers lining the route. It was different from any graduation the school had ever held. It was also, in its own way, exactly right.

We produced full event coverage across three distinct segments of the day. The lower school parade came first — younger students and their families moving through campus in a celebration that set the tone for everything that followed. Then came a memorial moment honoring a beloved teacher the school had lost — handled with care and appropriate gravity in the midst of an otherwise joyful day. The event closed with the high school parade and the graduating class of 2020, seniors in decorated cars marking the end of a school year unlike any other.

The result is a complete document of a day that KCD's community will want to revisit for years.

The Production Challenge

Covering a moving, multi-phase event across a full school campus requires constant repositioning and the ability to shift tone quickly — from the energy of the lower school parade to the solemnity of a memorial moment to the celebration of a graduating class. We managed continuous coverage across all three phases, maintaining visual consistency and appropriate sensitivity throughout.
