Walmart Health set out to fundamentally change how everyday Americans access healthcare — bringing affordable, comprehensive care into the communities where people already live and shop. To tell that story effectively, the video needed to come from the people it actually served: the patients.
We produced this piece on location at Walmart Health clinic facilities, capturing real patient stories about what accessible, affordable healthcare has meant for them and their families. The production approach was deliberately documentary in style — building the kind of trust and rapport with interview subjects that allows real people to speak naturally and honestly on camera, rather than reciting talking points.
That's a skill that doesn't come from equipment. It comes from experience and instinct. We've been producing this kind of character-driven healthcare content for years, and the results consistently speak for themselves. People in small communities like this here. You pay your bills first. Then you eat then you get your meds. And that's just the way it is. I had a woman's doctor and I have a heart doctor and I had an orthopedic surgeon. Okay, I don't go see those anymore because they can't afford it. I've been without my Synthroid medication for six months because I had to have blood work done and I just really couldn't afford it. I live with my daughter my son-in-law four grandchildren and now my son in a three bedroom mobile home.
I have Medicaid my daughter my son-in-law don't. Without this place. I was scared.
I'm gonna tell you I told everybody it's like a miracle before coming to Walmart health. I was going to our emergency room here in Gordon County. This is wonderful. Anybody that does work like mine is able to go to a doctor and feel like they're you know, somebody I don't have any kind of insurance. So this right here is Awesome for me.
If this Clinic wasn't here for me, then I wouldn't have seeked any kind of medical treatment. I mean it probably end up with me going to the hospital eventually. My husband and myself are on fixed income. So I probably wouldn't have gone anywhere. I just needed a place and I'm really thankful that Walmart put this here. For so long and so many people were looking for you know, who's gonna make the difference who's gonna make that impact it was gonna be the government was gonna be this organization was gonna be an organization and I think that we're gonna set the way and Lead it. He's gonna definitely make an impact on how the whole healthcare industry looks at how they treat people. It's a blessing.
So many doors for a lot of patience here in Calhoun Walmart Health to me is a new face to healthcare. It's rewarding being able to see these patients come in and smile and say I I'm able to get the care that I need and I so desperately could have used years ago, and now I'm able to get it. I took my daughter to another dentist and the treatment plan they worked up for was 5,667 dollars. We don't have insurance so. and I come here looking for a treatment plan and they gave me one for Tony and our retired And we're retired teachers because of Walmart health. We can afford to come and get our dental work done. My husband brought in a postcard. He's said you got some kind of postcard from Walmart about cleaning your teeth. What so immediately dialed the number?
Talk to a wonderful person and I'm like sign me up. I'll be back twice a year. I'm excited about this little cleaning. I think it's gonna be wonderful people will start coming and getting things they need to have done instead of waiting or going to the emergency room. Like okay, you're not gonna have to do that anymore. You can actually come to Walmart and get something done and get everything that day. I think it's great. I just think it's fantastic. I feel like I'm gonna be healthier. stronger and I'm going to be able to do what I have to do to do that. I want to make sure that you guys know that everybody knows how great you guys are and how great this is for our community you guys really needed. And I can't even I don't know how to tell you guys enough how much how thankful. I am and how happy I am that you guys are here.
